Target Audience Opinion

My brother would be classed as the target audience for our band and Music Video and as a male who listens to the Indie genre I was sure to get his opinion and see if he would buy, listen to or avoid our band and their Music Video.

So what are you initial thoughts on this mini digipack?

Well my first thoughts are that its incredibly dark and not very colourful. I don't really like the name of the album but when I open it up I can see a lot of hard work has gone into it with the bright colours being layered against the background.

If you got given it for free would you give it a listen just on it appearance?

Yeah why not, seems fun.

What do you think of the Music Video?

I think its great. I would definitely recommend it for others to watch. Its really fun and it's something you don't get bored watching.

Do you think both my print work go with the Music Video?

Yeah definitely, when you get to see the band at the end you can really tell.

And finally, what do you prefer the poster or digipack?

Um, probably the digipack I think the colours work better on the digipack compared to the poster.

Text Messages

Another way of getting our Music Video out there was we sent out the music video to a few people who would be the target audience to see their response and opinion of it. We thought word of mouth was a good way to see if people enjoyed the Music Video. The response was what we had hoped and it appealed to our target audience immensely. I am really pleased with these results. This method of gaining feedback from our target audience had positives and negatives due to you only being able to see the music video if you had 3G or wifi.

Facebook Feedback

After finally getting our Music Video finished we wanted to get some feedback from the public. We posted our Music Video on to Facebook in hopes that people would like it and respond. The results were good. Many people liked it and ended up sharing it to their page meaning more then just them could watch it. The feedback was positive and no one said anything bad about our attempts of making a Music Video. We are pleased people enjoyed it. It is a really good relief having people enjoy our Music Video after the long efforts we put into making it.

DigiPak and Poster to show on Thursday

This is the poster and the digipak I designed to show the class ready for feedback on Thursday. My feedback was that it felt a bit childish and really didn't help represent the indie genre of music at all. I wished to make it colourful and creative to go with the feel of the music video and name but now I have taken in the feedback I can understand where the points came from. I created the background myself to try and gain a sense of tie dye or paint splatters but I feel like it maybe does look too childlike. I feel like the silhouettes make it kind of child like also. Another comment was that I need to think more into the layout and what goes where I didn't take this into consideration either.

What I need to do next in order to improve will be to change the colour scheme of it, maybe play around with more darker colours. I want to play around with the opacity of the text so I can layer up different colours on a one colour background. Maybe that will help represent the title of the album too. The digipak as as a whole seems a little empty and so I plan on trying to fill out the panels more.

Other things I will need to consider and include will be the spine and the more information on the poster.

Feedback - First Screening

The feedback we gained through the first screening of our Music Video and Prints media was both good and bad. All the feedback was well received and meant that we now have plenty to work on and improve before the due date. I am able to understand the comments on the Music Video and i agree with everything that was said but now one of my main focuses will be the print media. My problem was that it did represent the indie genre although i tried hard to add colour consider the name of the album'Colour Spectrum' and the creativity of the Music Video. I plan on keeping different colours but toning it down and maybe add some less vibrant colours to represent the genre.

Typography

Whilst presenting to the class I asked their feedback on the typography they preferred. The majority of the class chose the bottom one as it came across a lot neater and looked much more professional. This will now be the typography I will take on when improving on my digipack.

Thursday 21st November 2013 - Animatics feedback and viewing.

In todays lesson we did a screening of our animatics. The feedback we received was mostly positive which was incredibly pleasing for us. Most people said to us that they liked the timing and the pace and also they really liked how we included most Goodwin's Analysis.

Inter-textual Reference - Italian Job

After the meeting with Leane we decided to make one of the scenes an inter textual reference with the Italian job. This will also help us apply our Goodwins theory. After filming I decided to get an opinion to see if  you can tell and its obvious.

What are your thoughts on this scene? What do you think it represents?

  •  I really like how the cars go in a line together, I think it looks really cool and neat. It reminds me of the Italian job even if the original didn't go across a fire place.

Group Meeting/Feedback

In this lesson we were set a task to create the animatics for our music video. We completed the task and I found it a successful thing as we now know the timings and we have a rough idea a to what the music video will look like.

The second things we did in the lesson was have a meeting with Leane to see what parts were up to in the flming and also to make sure what we are doing is right. Leane gave us plenty of helpful feedback and now we know what we need to do to  carry on, on the right tracks.

Feedback sheets

In todays lesson we presented a presentation to the class to gain feedback on what they thought on our band, our logo, our song, our music video idea's, etc. A majority of the class had concerns that as it is a stop motion it will take a large amount of time to create but after experimenting and creating a short clip to see what the stop motion will look like we did realise it was time consuming but the final product looked good and we were very pleased and decided to carry on with our stop motion music video.
What the class thought was our strong points though was how we had thought everything out with detail and we had good research and planning.
